Hi flip, this is a commonly held belief that I’ve found not to hold true. Almost any stain, I’ve removed by simply using a fine grain sand paper. In small circular motions at the spot, being careful to not apply too much pressure. Then brushing; the exception being grease, which you would obviously need to shampoo. I personally don’t even treat my suede with anything.

I think I am going to concentrate on enjoying wearing them and worry less about the water spots. I have to say I am impressed not really any break-in for these shell shoes. At first I thought so heavy so thick but a real pleasure on the feet and think of all the extra calories I am burning and enjoying it too.

Wanted to snap a photo in the sun this was this am on the way to the store. If you look close this pair too has the water spots as I got caught in a shower yesterday but just not going to worry about it.

The color is a bit lighter in the sun, Detroit last is really growing on me my toes are enjoying the extra room. The gold eyelets are growing on me too actually the shoes pull tight and lace up real nice compared to blind eyelets. This is the best part of an eBay find you get something that you would have never ordered yourself and you realize advantages to things you don't normally chose. I have a feeling this pair is going to get picked more than others in the rotation.

    .

That is really the way one has to approach it. They aren’t museum pieces right?

Agreed. We sometimes have real difficulty convincing customers though. My suede shoes from 10+ years ago look much better than my calf ones.

Thanks. Pretty recent photo. About 2 hours ago. I picked up the shoes a few years ago. My first foray into shell and then it was "Katy bar the door." It sort of started me on a bad #8 shell addiction. Here are most of the others. The top four are Alden, then vintage Florsheim, the next two are AE and the last an Alden boot. Spoilered because of the Aldens.

This sounds intriguing. I am not aware of any cordovan shoes currently available from Cheaney. Where did you hear about these?
