Shawl collar and variations thereof seem to be everywhere these days. J. Crew, Brooks Brothers, etc. all have them. However, I don't seem to be able to pull them off without looking like there's a ****** on my neck. I especially can't imagine layering them under a sport jacket.

What are some of your experiences?

I love shawl collar sweaters. They are perfect for a cold winter day or night. Something about the collar is comforting and warm to me. Wish I had a picture of me wearing one to post. They have never felt constricting to me unlike turtlenecks which I hate. I guess its something about a big collar on a cold day after skiing that is comfortable to me. Pic attached is my gf in a rugby one.

Don't like them personally. I think they should be relegated to around the house wear.

would love to pick up a burly heather grey chunky cable-knit shawl collared cardigan in wool before this winter so i can wear it with my jeans.

Same here but the combination of my extreme cheapness and difficult to fit size has made this search pretty difficult. I passed on a shot at a navy cashmere shawl collar cardigan about three weeks ago and it has been haunting me ever since.

yeah these items are hard to find at cheap prices, they are so in demand and get swiped up if anything comes up on a minimal sale. it's been hard for me too because my size is popular, and i basically think i have to fork over retail price.

and anything i think is a great price (sub 400 dollars) i find out they are made with acrylic or some artificial blend

I've never liked them even though I've had one or two over the years.
