The search for everyday work slacks

OK Folks, I'm in need of some collective help here.

I'm looking for a reliable brand of everyday work slacks. I'm 26 and need pants with a modern cut, without trying to look like too trendy in working environments; ie flat fronts, tapered cut, no cuffs, multi-season (lots of worm weather down south) and something under $150. I'm trying to phase out all of the full-cut, cuffed, and pleated worsted wool pants my father bought me the day I graduated college. I wear oxfords and pinpoints, usually without a tie.

Thanks in advance.

The Benjamin slacks from eHaberdasher would fit your description perfectly.

Thanks.

I'm new to eHaberdasher. Are they the online retailer for the Benjamin line?

Click on the Howard Yount affiliate link above, son. Word is more styles and fabrics to come shortly for the fall.

+1 to this. Just started looking for the exact same thing. The Benjamin slacks look promising... Anyone have any experience with them?

I'm curious too. Are the Benjamin slacks relatively slim fit?

I got a pair of J. Crew regular fit chinos last week, the first thing I got from there since I was a teenager and the fit off the rack was incredible. Decent rise, 8 inch cuff opening and slim through the thighs. I was blown away. This was after every similar pant in Ralph Lauren fit like crap (Polo) or they didn't have my size (black label). Don't get the slim fit, they were like skinny jeans, the regular fit was perfect. They were 70 bucks too and the cotton is thicker so it doesn't wrinkle as much.

Not an original recommendation, but it has not been suggested yet: Incotex. They are slim fit and well constructed. Can be had for less than $150 in the B&S section.

I have 4 pairs of the Benjamin slacks and they are slimmer than any of my other brands (Coppley, BB, Hickey Freeman). The quality and finish is great. I highly recommend them. I recieved and had my first pair of Howrd Yount slacks altered and the quality and fit of them is fantatstic as well. I would place HY slightly above Benjamin.

Now for the size and fit. In Coppley and HF i wear a 35 (I play tennis and have thick thighs). In the Benjamins I had to go with a 36 and in the Howard Younts i had to go with a 38. After slight alteration they all fit very similarly.

For wool slacks I like the preston cut from POLO RL and for something with a lower Rise Black Label.

You're price range is a little unrealistic at this time of year for a staple. Ed Morel's Panta is about $200ish depending on the fabric and is likely the best pant for the money.

I'm still an advocate for Mabitex. Their going rate is usually 65-70 for cottons and 95-110 for wools. Almost every pair I wear is Mabitex and they wear well and have held up beautifully.

OP what size are you?
