Interested in adding a pair to my wardrobe but will admit that I am far from knowledgeable on the brands and their offerings. Keep in mind, would like to keep the price point below that of Alden.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

This offering from the Cheaney factory called the FS029 , if you search theres been plenty of good reports about them on here. I'm more than pleased with mine for what was a very good deal indeed.

A Steal at £150, i think they may well be a tad more now. Check with the Cheaney factory the do runs every now and again, i waited about 3 months i think.

Thank you for all those usggestions! Completely forgot about Alfred Sargent. Definitely leaning towards those, especially if it is offered at 20%. And I agree about the Loake Burford's toe looking the best of the three at Herring.

Thank you Quad. Is that a discountinued model? And just saw the thread you posted in about this AE vs. To Boot Grange and think the AE is a beautiful shoe.

i find barker harrisons slightly better made than the loake burfords.
in terms of quality though the prize goes to trickers maltons, but that last is not for everyone, its very clompy.

    Dress or country?

Tricker's Stow country boots have a special charm to it, and in my experience, not that much bigger/chunkier than Alden's long wings.

In terms of dressier wing tips, I like Septieme Largeur's Megeve.

would it be weird if i used wingtip boots with rubber soles as my everyday winter shoe?

im talking about northeast winters where snow/slush/ice is a serious problem.

its actually a new model, but is readily available from what I've found.

maybe contact allaboutshoes and see if he can get you a discount.
