I just finished watching this episode of Futurama. Call me a *****, but the ending made me cry. I've never been this distressed from viewing a TV program before. I've been able to find plenty of copies of the song, but not the one that has appeared in the episode. It was sung by Connie Francis and is from the film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Can anyone help?

Yeah, me too.

There were one or two other episodes with really really touching endings.

IMO Futurama is one of the most underrated animated shows as far as the 'depth' of some of the episodes, while remaining really funny at the same time.

Two come to mind for me.
1. Seried finale of M*A*S*H
2. Opening ceremonies for the 2000 Sydney Olympic games when North and South Korea marched together

Two that come to mind:

- the M*A*S*H episode where Henry Blake dies

- Bobby Simone's death on NYPD Blue

It's noteworthy (at least to me) that both of these were done without some sappy song playing in the background telling the audience how to feel.

Radar reading the telegram....

"I have a message, Lt. Colonel Henry Blake's plane was shot down over The Sea of Japan. It spun in. There were no survivors."

Feel free to cry now, I did.

When Julie McCoy was thrown overboard from the Love Boat, for her prodigious cocaine intake, that was sad.

That final episode of the Johnny Carson show. . . . weeping like a child.

The last ten minutes of the series finale of Six Feet Under. Pure cheese with cheese on top. But it still made me cry.

Yeah, that was good. I never really even watched that show, but the ending nonetheless got to me.
