I think the worm has turned and after years of dark denim in the ascendant, we're about to see return of light blue, catalyzed by warmer weather. What do you guys think?

Through my delvings with astrology, I find dark denim is a timeless classic, and should always be a staple.

^^ the chicken entrails and tea leaves agree that light blue denim shall remain the province of aging baby boomers and midwestern US tourists for the foreseeable future...

Well, I've been wearing a pair of lightish-blue PDC Ltd's for the last couple years, so I don't think lighter denim has gone anywhere. The only reasonable shade of denim that's not found a place in my wardrobe is the standard indigo. Most are darker but that one is lighter.

Yeah, I've noticed that in a fair number of S/S lines. Then again, they kinda never went away: the ES Milk Blue, various 7FAM, the always godawful True Religion and Abercrombie light washes have been around for a while.

I'll stick to the dark-to-medium spectrum, thanks, with an exception for my PDC Tates.

One thing I will say, what companies do with denim these days (no matter how nice or not) is amazing. I recently saw a light pair of light denim jeans which were light on the top, white from the crotch to the knees, and then light denim on the bottom. I wish I could find the pic but I threw it out as soon as I saw it.

Here is a link to another pretty amazing pair. (I wouldn't wear these but they are something to behold)

Just click to see the slide show, the jeans are slide #5 (I think).

I just recently bought some vintage 501 Levi's that are lighter blue, b/c the monotony of dark rinse denim is starting to get boring. So yea, we will start seeing more of it.

For what its worth, both 5EP and R&B are making light denim now.

Thanks, been having trouble posting pics. Maybe SF? The hyperlink and pics seem strange. Maybe it's just me not remembering how to do it?

The only light denim I've ever liked was naturally faded that way. Well, that and one ridiculously bleached Rogan wash, which was kind of neat.

My vote's with unstoppable force of evil.
