Recently joined this thread though a long time sf member.

I will be posting a review of my black cap toes later today.

These are vintage Dacks in calf skin. For those of you who don't know the brand, here is a quick history.

Canadian shoemaker that rivaled Church's and AE back in the day. When Canadian manufacturing was shut down, it shifted briefly to Mexico. Then Cheaney of England started making their shoes. Church's bought the brand. When Prada in turn bought Church's, Dacks was sent into bankruptcy. It was later revived as Matthew Dacks and shoes are still made by Cheaney. Do you think your pair is close to these Cheany Greeenwich Capped Oxford--otside of the hi-shine?

These. To my, in the process of being educated on such things, eyes they seem similar--the toe box seem more round and roomier--that is what's interesting me. I need a lot of toe box room.

I don't know about your size.... But for American brands like Allen Edmonds, I am 8.5 eee and around 8.5G/H for English brands. And it also depends on the last.

So I also need more room in toe box, but I don't know how your pair fits.

This pair here is vintage Dacks made in Canada. No longer available. Current Dacks are made in England by Cheaney.

Wurger, can you provide some insight on how the AE Independence collection compares with some of the dress shoe brands you compare here

For the current price of $330 USD, $200 off, it's a bargain. Its upper uses Haas Novacalf, lambskin line, very soft glove like feel around the feet.

Thanks, I don't need another pair, but tempted to try a pair at these prices. Either the brown Bartlett or Merlot Hopkinson
