What does 39.5 Euro translate to? Didn't realise they make in quarter sizes, at least not RTW.

wurger we seem to be similar size in shoes. I am looking at picking up a pair of black captoes sometime this year to replace my fugly AE PA's. The style just doesn't suit me and I wish I had done more research before buying them a few years ago. My question to you is what do you think my Vass U Last size would be? 41?

    AE 5 last - 8D
    Meermin Olfe 7UK
Meermin Hiro 7UK (some heel slip)
    Carmina Oscar boots 7UK
    C&J/RL boots 7UK/7.5US

I want something more aggressively styled and the Vass shoes look great. I'm also thinking about some Carminas (Rain or Simpson) or C&J Hallam.

I am curious, I am new to the dress shoe thing and bought a pair of cheap rubber soles that are absolutely abhorrent. So, I did a bit of research to see what is a descent shoe and thought I found one with Allen Edmonds. Since I am new to this is this a good shoe to start with. I am one who takes care of my things so I don't mind spending money on them. I figure it as an investment, one $400-$500 shoe over ten years or 1-2 crappy rubber soled shoes that wear out after six months. I also like that fact that most are still made in America!! The other brand I heard was descent was Alden. Any comments and sorry for any ignorance I am definitely not a shoe nut.....at least not yet!!

If you only have one pair of shoes, it will probably last you only one year. there is very limited economy in buying shoes.

It's more about appreciating the art, and caring about how you want to look.

You need to rotate your shoes or you will wear throughout he soles quickly. They will also lose their shape if you're wearing them every day. They should be given a day of rest between wears with trees inserted. Personally, I'd say the minimum number of shoes one needs in rotation for a 5-day-a-week suit wearing job is 3 pairs. Unless you have a lot of money to spend, buy one and integrate it with your cheap shoes until you can buy another pair and then a third. If you rarely need to wear a suit and proper shoes, one pair is fine.
