You can see in the side view picture that they appear to have a dog tail seam. Look at the left shoe.

My latest cap toe. Part of the Original Collection of the Trading Post, a Japanese shoe store. These are made exclusively for them by Central Shoes Tokyo.

I love how sleek and finely finished these cap-toes are. Notice also the slight tapering of the distance between the lacing holes.

Fit Pic (Please ignore the Chinos I was wearing)

Those look absolutely brilliant.

Nice, all these shoes demonstrate how much "rounder" AE is.

Jason, love the shoes, especially its shinny finish, like my JL City Ii. The Japanese sure does some nice shoes at a fairly low price range.

Thank you, guys. I particularly like how sleeker and shapelier it is (curving to follow the contours of the feet -- especially at the waist). I wasn't quite satisfied with the shape of the AE PAs, so I decided to try out other brands for cap toes.

And I agree that they are priced reasonably. I heard the same shoe maker makes much more expensive shoes for other brands. Nutcracker from the Japanese shoe thread seems to know a lot about them.

Very very nice!! Wear in good health! :slayer:

and yes, Trading Post can do a wide variety of resole jobs. For extra ¥2000 yen (¥14700 yen total), you can opt for Rendenbach soles. Closed channel finish is available for another ¥2000 ($20). They also offer premium sole recraft with Baker's oak bark soles and bevelled waists for ¥19900 yen or so.

^^ Thank you, nutcracker. I'm learning so much about this brand from you. The sales staff didn't even mention the other resole/recraft options. Makes me want to get another pair seeing that I can easily have them resoled here (without having to ship them abroad).

You're very welcome!! :)
I just happen to be understand Japanese, nothing really much :D

btw, Trading Post can also do MTO for their TP Original shoes (up to size 11UK), and it costs +10% from their RTW shoes

Not sure how good your Japanese is, but check it out @ their website!

Good to know that. Since their last seem to fit my foot well, I just might try to see if there's a make-up that I like which is currently not on their available line.

Thanks for the links, NC!

What is an affordable but "long lasting" and dependable Black Oxford to buy? Brand/ Model etc? (Available in the US)

Is there anything around 100/200$? Or should one go for the 250-300$ range models - and then try to swipe one during a sale?

Well, seems as if I earned myself a questionable reputation

Get a simply wholecut then you don't have to worry about any seams

It might surprise you, but I actually like seams and would never consider to buy a wholecut, strange, he? ;)

@XFactor, this forum agrees on a high minimum standard of quality which a shoes needs to be recommended.
Therefor I am afraid your budget will not be enough to buy a new pair as the entry level cap toes recommended around here are AE Park Avenue, Loake Aldwych and Meermin Classic Collection.
Also, while I have not handled a pair myself, I heard good things about Langer & Messmer at the German equivalent to Styleforum.
I think they have several cap toes af varying price points.

I know this thread is for oxfords. However, I live in California and can be flexible with what I wear. I like black shoes but find black oxfords to be a bit too severe these days. About 10 years ago I bought these Lobb WIlliams. I wear them in place of oxfords and get a lot of compliments.

I believe Allen Edmonds Park Avenue, is now on sale, is the closest to your request. Or a Charles Tyrwitt oxford.

What's the basic Tyrwhitt captoe going for in the US? Based on UK prices it'd be around $160, with the English made version around $290

Is this the one you recommended? And at this price? Just wondering if I got your pointer correctly.

Are these "recommended" investments? ... based on some reading that talked about buying more reliable higher priced brands/ models with leather sole and stitching and they would LAST longer and be better LONGER TERM investments (less $/ year of Classic Style) that wont go out of trend.
