Having seen Springsteen and the E street Band play a couple times since my first time in 1988, I almost didn't go see him at the Meadowlands last summer. But I thought "It'd be nice to see him on his 'home turf'". Wow. What a show. 3 hours, non-stop, lyric-screaming, electrifying, non-soul-denying, electric guitaring, tenor saxing, life affirming, death-denying... E-Street Band.

Tonight (Oct 7th) at 9pm HBO debuts "The Promise" - the making of Darkness on the Edge of Town. If you are intrigued by what really goes into the making of an album (have you ever sat in a room and worked for 8 hours on 15 seconds of music?).. this will give you a glimpse.

lol. yeah. When I posted I wondered how many people on this board have:

- Never really listened to him
- Never seen him
- Don't know the name of that album
- Don't have any albums

I had seen him before and his shows were ok. But the show at the Meadowlands last year was fantastic. I finally understood the (totally understandable/earned) hype. Although I've been a fan since a tennis player named John McEnroe was being interviewed about the current US Open in which he was playing. In the background of the shot McEnroe had an album out, it was called "Born to Run".

here's how old i am: i reviewed both "darkness" and even "greetings from asbury park" when they came out. the reason darkness is important, and the reason i'm looking forward to seeing the show, is that's the album where, imho, he really became a mature songwriter. before there was a lot of word-slinging, almost desolation-row type stuff. darkness was when the songs really became concrete.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
