I've noticed Putin wearing longer sleeve lengths. Now I'm seeing British PM and Obama doing the same thing. Merkel's left arm looks fine. France is still going for the 1/2 inch or more "I don't give a damn about Putin, I just want my shirt showing no matter what" look. Anyone else noticed these longer power sleeves since Putin started doing it? I also have to say I think Obama's suit cut is the most boring in the group. Back to old Hollywood for sartorial cues or embrace the power sleeve that says "hey, it's a jacket!"?

How does an ill-fitting sleeve connote power?

Quote:A way for him to re-define what well-fitted is. Maybe it's Putin's way of pushing back against what he perceives as overly "dandy" fashion sensibilities and instead treating the jacket as a jacket and not an accessory to the shirt? Maybe it's right in line with him riding horses and motorcycles without a shirt on for the cameras. A way not to follow the herd, but impel the herd to follow him; to be a player and not the one who's played. If you look at his foreign policy, you also see that he is not responding to events around him, but actively inciting around himself.

They all look like terribly dressed slobs, which is fairly typical of politicians.

Hah. I think that's a little harsh. And Putin would probably call you a dandy Yankee wuss... then have you poisoned with something radioactive.

I think your way over thinking it. The likely answer? He doesn't give a shit like most politicians.

    You're onto something.

    1. Invade Crimea
    2. Destabilize Ukraine
    3. Wear longer jacket sleeves than others
    4. Invade the Baltics
    5. Button the second jacket button

    Diabolical!

PS. Stages 4 and 5 are future stages and may or may not also include annexation of Belarus and wearing pants longer than others (double break (?))

Why aren't any of them wearing a tie? The mind boggles.

Why on earth are you taking any notice of such people and creating a thread of it?

You are being naïve in the extreme to link ill-dressed politicians with "power dressing", if indeed such a concept should be a goal of a well-dressed man. Study a little, learn a lot.
