Who owns what they would consider "the perfect white shirt"?

What are the features that make it "perfect" for you? who made it (custom or otr)?

I have a white shirt Jantzen made for me a while back that is the closest thing to a 'perfect white shirt' I own but I'm pretty sure it can be better, just not exactly sure in what way. The fabric is a dobby pattern, not overly see-thru, rounded short 2" collar with 1.5" short collarband, thin cuffs, no pocket, very fitted, very minimal etc. I wonder what defines a perfect white shirt for everyone else?

A perfect white shirt for me would be something in a fabric that holds up well and isn't that hard to iron with medium spread collar (floating interlining), formal placket, and rounded single button barrel cuffs with no gauntlet buttons and no pocket. Essentially, that white shirt you can turn from dress to casual at a moment's notice.

For me, the "perfect" white shirt would be twofold; fit & aesthetics.

Fit: The perfect white shirt should fit like a glove. In fact, it should probably fit better than any other shirt in your wardrobe.

Aesthetics: For me, the perfect white shirt should have a little bit of pattern to it; a dobby or a twill, or even a herringbone design. So long as it is muted and doesn't take over. A subtle pattern is perfect.

For me the perfect white shirt would be very stripped down. An example of such might be a small herringbone in a buttery cotton with French cuffs, a firm medium spread collar, removable collar stays, no chest pocket, no pleats, split back yoke, and gorgeous but subtle mother-of-pearl buttons. It would be cut to match my body like a second skin, and would be 70-80% opaque.

That shirt could be worn under a suit and blend right in as office attire, and it would be formal enough for almost anything (save black tie), but it would have undeniable sex appeal in other contexts.

I really like the white APC shirt I recently bought from mack11211. It fits great, is not see-through, and is great for dress/casual.

I agree except that I hate plackets. They are OK on buttondowns but nothing else. I have a few like this.

I dunno. I liked the French front for a while but I now prefer the look of plackets more. My taste has evolved significantly over the past year.

Are you talking about that narrow white shirt that APC is selling on their site?

I'm not sure if it's the same one, but here is a very bad picture, I'll take more later, but I think the details (tan color underneath the cuff and collars) are very interesting.

Oh, I looked on the site and it's not that shirt, that one has a breast pocket and I believe the one I have was priced at $195 and that one is $135.

I like my white shirts with a bit of texture to them; subtle elegance, something a little 'off' the norm. I prefer a covered button front, but that isn't a deal breaker. I recently picked up this Alexander McQueen shirt (last 38!), and I couldn't be happier:

Yoox, $122 Beautiful dobby/jaquard weave, nice heavy pearl buttons, great silhouette, what isn't to like?

I currently have a white, herringbone pattern, spread collar dress shirt w/ french cuffs by John. W. Nordstrom that I like very much.

Fits great, looks great and I particularly enjoy the fact that it cost me only $12 at Nordstroms Last Chance
