I'm starting to think you (and few others) are just obsessed with loafers to be honest.

How can we be obsessed with loafers if we've talked about how to wear loafers, chukkas, boots, derbies, AND oxfords, while the other side just wants to stick oxfords into any outfit no matter what's involved?

Honestly, I'm calling it quits. it's too tiring to keep discussing with someone that answers each objection with "but the other camp does that, which is obviously bad, so I must be right".

I mean, I'm not going to scroll through Paul's entire IG to find a pair of derbies or ask him to take a special photo for me. But you can stick a pair of derbies into the outfit I linked and it would be just as good. My main point was the shirt + tie + jacket + pant combo. The footwear is secondary to the point I was making.

Except he directly addressed your complaint.

You: Your camp is just obsessed with loafers!

Him: No, we have supported all shoe types in appropriate outfits. The other side is obsessed with shoe horning oxfords with everything.

You: Your side just says the other side is obsessed, I quit!

What I mean is that you have flattened the field, divided people strictly into 2 camps, and turned this discussion into a battle between the two, and so no actual discussion can ever be had because it's only about beating the other side.

I see I've missed nothing since my previous visit. ;)
Indeed.

However you want to phrase it, I don't think anyone here is obsessed with loafers. In other threads, @RJman claims I'm obsessed with split toe derbies. @ValidusLA and I once argued over my love for Blundstones.

Indeed.

I introduced my indifference for sockless Loafers just to stir the pot, It gets a bit boring talking about the same thing over and over again after so many posts, being British I quite enjoy all the squabbling, backtracking, p*ss taking and temporary alliances.

It's even spilling over into an ancient Zombie thread about Brexit ??

That said, I have learned things from both sides and satisfied myself that boots are actually way cooler than shoes!!!

Loafers irritate me, literally.

Horrible shoes with not much forgiveness in fit. Great fun when you have two feet that are completely different sizes.

For "lazy" slip on footwear, I prefer Chelsea boots.

I think I could happily live a life where I owned nothing but loafers and hiking shoes.

I generally don't like the coat or the silhouette of the trousers, or the choice of that turtleneck in the outfit. So when you add oxfords, the combo looks worse to me.

Not into the coat, but i think this is a more successful execution. Would widen the trousers a tad.

This fit would be much improved by replacing those dainty loafers (or are they slippers for in-house wear?) with some oxfords.
