I think if the oxford is casual enough and not too sleek it can work with denim.

I really wanted to put on a tuxedo jacket, some wholecuts, and some momotaro selvedge and do some complicated math....

I'm just too tired though...

speaking of Momotaro, how do you like them?

Quite a lot. Heavy but not too heavy. Nice medium high rise. The peach thread might be too affefted for some, but I think it looks nice.

I’m not really a denim head but I really want to own some Japanese denim to see what it’s all about.

Not a big oxford fan, but think it probably can be done with right combo. Tempted to find examples.

The way to do it is probably as follows.

Shoes: (1) tan or snuff suede preferably worn in, (2) lower heels, (3) less shapely last, (4) rounder toe, (5) less sculpted waist, (6) wider welt, (7) minimal or brogueing, (8) maybe even wholecut (I know, controversial; I think fewer details makes formality of shoe less specific), (9) preferably but not necessarily unlined

Doesn't fit all criteria above, but maybe something like above.

Pants: slimmer mid or light wash denim with higher rise. Or olive cotton trousers in slimmer cut with higher. (It is important to keep things slim to match shoes.)

Ideally lighter than this.

Shirt: university stripe or plain ocbd.
