Just an FYI that I find a good estimated difference in chest dimension for a balmacaan to be about 2-3 inches more than my sport coat size. Im about 40-42R with a preference at about 21-22 flat chest measurement. My coats are in the 24-25 flat chest measurement. It takes getting accustomed to but is comfortable now. Hope that helps.

Looks good and suits you

For any garment I find that if the fit "seems wrong", in my case
too snug because I have a thick upper body, I usually wind -up
not wearing it much. I have a preference for somewhat loose-
fitting tailored clothing. I don't think I could wear anything with
much structure. At present, "too big" is not an issue because
I put on 20 lbs partially due to my inability to exercise due to
persistent sciatica, which took over a year to get under control.
I am now dieting, which is slow going.

An exemplary balmacaan in my eyes. I prefer by far when a belt is present, and fastened.

Hard to tell the fit and which era of Phineas Cole is this from, seems way to short (35in length) based on memory I don’t ever remember they have a chesterfield this short with a tab adjustable back

I saw this too and thought it was a bit odd.
