Better for a number of reasons. Still, though, what'd you wear under it?
A suit or sport coat, From Norman Hilton, Chipp, Southwick, etc.
I worked in tech but in those days sales/markting types usually
wore "business clothes"

I don't quite know what your standard for heavy is, but my SEH Kelly balmacaan that I got earlier this year and their hunting jacket from last year are pretty heavy (23oz-28oz). I was traveling last week where the evening temps were in the low 20s F and the balmacaan was actually very warm.
At 20° I'd consider going outside in just a heavy sweatshirt. The difference between that and -20° is REAL.

It looks good to me, also a great price at discount. Nice colour choices.

I'm surprised that this board would break out the Canada Goose jackets at just -20. Folks must wear some lightweight overcoats.

The warmest thing is always fur, so you can always have an overcoat lined with that. The value of parkas is just reduced layering, in my experience, but this can also be achieved with a shearling coat or something similar.

Certainly the more stylish choice.
