Rando question, how come no one is posting a nice chesterfield these days (and is paddock and chesterfield the same thing?)

Some Saint Laurent rando off vestiaire (definitely not Wyatt way pointier was trying something with Cuban heel, and for <$200 new!).
Is it TTS? I was looking at Saint Laurent Lukas recently but don’t think there’s many new pairs so may have to get 2nd hand.

Oh and for the record I still prefer the permanent style x private white bridgecoat vs. Edward Sexton, permanent style one just looks more “clean” especially the back

Thanks for the reminder. I have an RLBL Chesterfield I need to have tailored. Will post it when it's done.

To me this a perfectly proportioned Chesterfield. What distinguishes it is that it is not done in the usual blue, gray, or black small or un-patterned fabric.

What makes a coat a Chesterfield? I always think of the contrasting velvet collar, but that doesn't seem to be one of the defining characteristics as it's missing in this example.

What do you think about this coat? I really-really like the color but the collar seems a little small + doesn't have a throat latch (not a deal-breaker if the coat had a larger collar)

Agreed, nice colour, but too small collar.

A large collar looks so much better.

That's a wonderful coat. It looks like the bold-patterned Balmacaan my friend called his Hadrian's
Wall" coat because he wore it when he toured Hadrian's Wall some 30 years ago. His commitment
to traditional clothing can be summed up in his statement at the time, "No Thinsulate for me"
This was in Chicago where winter is "real" and down and/or Thinsulate is an easy choice.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
