Re: Raglan sleeves. I had classmate in college over 50 years ago who had a
hounds tooth tweed sport coat with Raglan sleeves. It was the typical Ivy cut.
I have never seen one since. Sometimes distinctive clothing was seen on foreign
students, but he was American.

Why are the prices so low? My guess is that more traditional overcoat offerings from the
likes of O'Connells are more substantial and possibly heavier.
Made in India. OC is usually made in Canada or USA.
Ah. You're right. They hang so much off the shoulders that I thought they were.
Half raglan I thought? Raglan at the back

I am thinking about ordering a new overcoat for the upcoming winter. I live in Germany and finding fitting clothing is very difficult for me (feel free to see my other threads).

After searching for a while, I am trying to decide between the Simon Crompton Balmacaan collaboration and either the Balmacaan or the Tielocken coat from SEH Kelly. The only coat I own is an Ulster coat from S&M from two years ago which fits mediocre (the neck is gaping which is only an issue when I wear it with the collar down, which I rarely do. Also my backside is a bit too prominent and the vents divide a little).

I am looking for a comforting and relaxed fit. I am concerned that the Seh kelly coats might be a bit tight. That said, SEH Kelly is significantly cheaper. Also, I do not know how returns are handled from a tax standpoint at the moment. I do not want to end up paying import duties if I return the product.
If it weren't for the higher price, I would order the Simon Crompton coat, but that still bears the risk of me ending up paying the important duties.

Are there any similar options within the EU? I feel like most coats come from the UK.

Edward Sexton's greatcoat cut is structured, dramatic, and fun. I've a lot of slouchy coats, but nothing like this. This may be what I get next.

This post may be up your alley? Made in India.

These do look nice, but the aforementioned fitting-shipping-tax-return issue still persists (or is that just something i have to live with?).

I just read that these are made to order and therefore final sale anyway, so at least no return issue ;) . Shoulders seem very big thoug. Shoulderwise i would not take XL, but chest in L might be too small.

I personally don't fuss over overcoat fit as much. I aim for "too big" vs. too small, but I know that doesn't align with the aesthetic view on CM. I'll even go 2-3 sizes too big.

The shoulders are indeed dropped and half-raglan. There's fit pictures for 2 coats if you continue reading past that post. Should be on the next 2-3 pages.
It looks very disproportionate to me - skinny sleeves with a fuller body. Makes you look like a stick man
Ooof, I didn't notice that, good eye. Now I can't unsee it.

I aim for a middle ground. I would rather have an item a tad too large than too small. I already found the thread and think those coats look very nicely. The look I am going for is not formal. I like wearing sport coats and coats as well as trousers with pleats and a high rise though, this is why I found this forum in the first place. These coats seem like exactly what I was looking for. If one was in navy or grey, I would not have hesitated after clearing up some questions. I'll need to think about it overnight.

Get the Crompton. You seem to prefer it more. Better to spend more on something you really want. Buy once, cry once.

If i could try both on and be certain this were the case, i would agree. It all comes down to fit though and that is something i cannot say with certainty in advance. I'm not even sure i like the Crompton more, i would prefer navy though but i am not set on it.

I just noticed that the Crompton coat is only 112ish cm long, this alone makes my appreciation disappear. I much prefer longer coats.

I thought it might be too short to be considered, but I noticed that it can be lengthened. It is fairly pricey though and I do not know if it will even fit (but there is a good chance that it will). As of right now, I am still unsure. I do not think I will order 18east because it is made to order and I fear it might be too large for my taste, that would leave me with an oversized coat and almost 900 Euros poorer. If I dislike it, I cannot return it. It does look cool though.
