I'm trying to sort through the coats I got from my grandfather. Most are so out of date they are only good for donating.
I've found two formal overcoats that appear to be in good condition but I don't know anything about them, and the tags are distinctly faded. If anyone can provide some info on them I would appreciate it.

I'm pretty new here, but going through this stuff is teaching me stuff. I see the second coat is a 42 short , and from the UK.

Thanks in advance BTW!
Well Aquascutum (was) a very well known British outerwear brand comparable to Burberry and known for its classic club check pattern. Went into bankruptcy administration multiple times in the 2010s and 2020s and now seems to be a shell of its former self, selling imported t-shirts and shorts.

I did a bit of googling - looks like the coat I have is from the time before they were sold and is of quality. So that's a good thing. The giveaway is the Royal warrant, so it has to be prior to 2002.

I love the silhouette.

Question: On the left side, between the belt and the pocket flap there's a pink/purple pattern with a surrounding yellow. Is that an artifact of the camera and lighting?

Spot on, I tried to reduce it by tinkering with the exposure values but to no avail, otherwise the photo would be less bright, presumably due to my iPhone 12's camera and post shutter algorithm overcorrecting the intense midday sunlight radiation and refraction.

Great selection of coats.Cars too. That's a Maserati GT 1500 the guy in the fly front coat has
emerged from. A classic.

Also shown in the film is a more modest classic, a Lancia Aprile:

The Lamar by 18east is a great overcoat. It's a raglan sleeve, slouchy coat, but the drape and silhouette are one of my favorites and my "goto".

It runs large, so they advise sizing down one unless you want a really oversized look. I have last year's and I'm going to pick up the chocolate one this year. It's an MTO offering.

Why are the prices so low? My guess is that more traditional overcoat offerings from the
likes of O'Connells are more substantial and possibly heavier.

Anyone have thoughts on whether to go XS or S on the Lamar Coat as a 5'8", 145lb male? Wear a 36 in the Kaptain Sunshine Traveller and have a 36" chest and 17" shoulders!

If anyone with similar stats has pics that would be even better

I normally wear 38, 18" shoulders, 6'1" 145 lbs and the S looks great on me. I'll post pics tomorrow.

I can't compare it to O'Connells since I don't have one, but it is pretty substantial. It's my heaviest overcoat including a camelhair polo and a donegal.
