Just a few shots of the Cohérence AL 2 trench coat, having wore it for about a year already, it is actually remarkably useful during the colder, rainier and windy months, especially layering over wool sweaters with tweed jackets and flannel trousers.

Still recall an occasion when many commuters were seeking shelter under a bus stop, whilst I could stand on the curb side under some moderate pour to the bewilderment of some.

Is it Cotton, or something synthetic and more waterproof?

Cool to see one with some wear on it; I see a lot of pics of them brand new and always wondered how they aged with use. How do you feel like the fabric has held up?

Absolutely, off the mannequin clothing without some aging creases, wear and drape could appear artificial. I remember trying it on in store and half chuckled at the premium feel of the fabric and quality of the stitches, buttons and metalware. No complaints so far with regard to the craftsmanship nor fabric, most likely it will last for many many years to come.

Note that the previous pictures might be a tad over saturated with evening indoor lighting, the coat should appear under normal sunlight in a hue between stone and beige with a slight iridescence perhaps due to the weaving of the gabardine cotton.

It is one hundred percent cotton gabardine, though doubt it would pass any modern day mil-spec trials. Nevertheless, I have almost always kept my jacket and most sections of the trousers dry under routine autumn and winter showers.

Absolutely beautiful. May I ask you what size you bought? And your height/waist/shoulder measurements

It's hard to make sense of their sizing

Merci beaucoup, I am about 181 centimetres in height and weigh 85 kilograms or under imperial measurements roughly 5 feet 11 inches and 187 pounds, with a chest circumference of 96 centimetres, natural waist line of 94 centimetres (slightly above the belly button), usually comfortable with shirts with a garment shoulder width of around 47 centimetres.

The medium size coat fits almost perfectly with just enough tolerance for any light jackets, suits or heavy tweeds, and for reference most of my blazers are just unaltered Ralph Lauren size 38 regulars, whilst length wise stopping just at and faintly below my knees, thus creating a very classic Laurence Fellows illustration like silhouette.

Looks very similar to the classic Burberry trench coat. Do you find the Coherence gabardine coats to be better?

I believe it is really Cohérence's homage or copy of the original post war Burberry trench coat sans epaulets, as it is also eponymously named as the AL coat in honour of Albert Camus and his Burberry. Considering price wise in most markets, it is still roughly about half of what Burberry is commanding for their recent Westminster (with raglan sleeves) model, thus it is somewhat a compelling proposition.

Classic full length trench coats generally do not sell too well these days, the post war generation who carried them from war and into the civil service, offices and banks have all but retired, it is a bit difficult to find a faithful recreation of the original Burberry or even Aquascutum, thus comparatively the Cohérence coat kind of caters to this niche.

I'm trying to sort through the coats I got from my grandfather. Most are so out of date they are only good for donating.
I've found two formal overcoats that appear to be in good condition but I don't know anything about them, and the tags are distinctly faded. If anyone can provide some info on them I would appreciate it.

I'm pretty new here, but going through this stuff is teaching me stuff. I see the second coat is a 42 short , and from the UK.

Thanks in advance BTW!

I love the silhouette.

Question: On the left side, between the belt and the pocket flap there's a pink/purple pattern with a surrounding yellow. Is that an artifact of the camera and lighting?
