Charcoal is the safer option, imo. It can work with browns, greys, blacks, blues, greens, etc. Navy might not be as versatile.

Where's da Foo when you need him?

I wouldn't try just navy, but navy and a nice charcoal gray. I'm really starting to desire thicker socks. Not sure if that's partly because I live in the bay area or if my shoes are just starting to loosen up. Perhaps both....

OK, so if I'm going to go with gray, I want a nice dark charcoal. Does anyone know where I can get inexpensive charcoal gray socks? I tried ebay with no luck.

Variety, color, pattern is the way to go with socks. I just can't subscribe to the one or even two sock option.

I do not have issues with slipping at all - but I've never been one for socks that go above the calf.

They do have knee socks that are much too high for my taste.

Funny, I just did the same thing - all the same brand of socks (MacGregor Premium Cushion Sole - on sale at the Bay).

4x navy
4x charcoal heather grey (works with both mid grey and dark grey)
3x dark brown (match my dark brown shoes perfectly)

2010 is going to be a good year.

Me too. I need some variety in color and pattern. It's much nicer to combine lighter and darker shoes or light or pattern fabrics with socks that harmonize. Most of my socks are navy, gray or brown, but in lots of different shades and soporific patterns.

It may be a sacrifice in terms of a single type of clothing item, but like I said originally, I just can't stand sorting a laundry basket full of different socks.

Keeps you cool in the summer, and in the winter you get to feel that soft flannel.

That'd be my underwear..... Alas if only there was one sock. Might I recommend some knee-high skull patterns or flames...or flaming skulls?

Variety is the spice of life.
