I've reduced my buying (and consumption) in the latter part of this year. Kind of want to be more strategic in future, buy less at a higher average price point. Focus was on CA for the last few years because I had very little prior experience, but getting burnt out on overpriced cab. SommSelect is still doing a great job of serving up interesting daily drinkers, but I'd like to go deeper on Italy and (particularly) Spain. Any suggestions on sourcing?
Decántolo are big on wine from Spain (just about laying a order myself) with wide selection of regions, grapes etc. Not sure about shipping fees consider you being in USA but maybe worth have a look. If nothing else at least you should be able to find some inspiration and a good overview.

Edit: overseas shipping look rather expensive.

Someone do this please because I can't. $135 for eight courses and SQN pairs -- that's robbery!

Forget where you're based, but Eataly and d'Espana are a good place to start. Yes, prices are relatively high, but so too is availability. You can then start direct sourcing once you know preferences.

If transiting the Bay Area, you are invited to occupy the guest house at the Modest Hilltop Estate.

You're excused on that one. I've it right from Eric himself he makes wines that can be drank young and his Grenache is probably the best of the lot for that.

I love southern Rhone reds -- I think they are much more food friendly than a big Bordeaux or an ephemeral Burg (plus cheaper!). I keep a lot of Ch. Beauchene in the regular Cotes du Rhone around, and usually make sure it has five years on it before I open it. I think it punches above its weight at that point -- for a $14 bottle. I just popped one of their 2015 Chateuneuf, which I didn't even know they mad, and it was quite delightful with sauteed filets with a brandy/sherry creme sauce with royal trumpets. Great wine. Have to buy some more and let it sit.

Again, after all it's tuesday. Will obviously gain from 5-10 years in the cellar being a Bandol, but this one is surprisingly accessible. Value is great.

Honestly I don't know much about Bandol other than Domaine Tempier?

This is higher-elevation Spring Mountain Merlot and they usually throw in about 15% estate grown Cab. Rich and smooth and faintly dark chocolate-y. A firm favorite. Also not stupid expensive by Napa standards.
