Went to Brazilian Steakhouse tonight and brought:
2013 Quilceda Creek CVR and
2013 Isenhower Cab Batchelor's Button

Both drinking very well, really similar wines with the CVR maybe having a bit more acidity and tannin than the Isenhower.

Are you getting on the list for Scarecrow? I bought a few Tinmen and got a nice three pack of the 2016 Scarecrow this spring. I have to admit I'm thinking of selling a bottle as they're going for $800-1k now.

Love L’Aventure. We were there for a tasting recently and it’s a special place.

I’ve been in Denmark for the last week so mostly drinking beer and akvavit, but this tonight. Very nice.

Another treat. Peter Vinding-Diers was a legend in the South African wine industry when I started out there for convincing everyone to use native yeasts. He also helped his nephew get Pingus off the ground. Apparently he made a few of these for his wife’s birthday and we snagged one in a wine shop in a little fishing village in Nordsjaelland, as one does.

Some great value in the DO as it surrounds Priorat, the only other DOCa besides Rioja.

Went for food last night to celebrate a good friend's upcoming wedding.

Fillet steak with béarnaise sauce and a glass of 2011 Gaja Barbaresco for the main course. My first wine served using the Coravin system (for which I have mixed views) and sadly my second experience of wine being served too warm for my tastes (I would guess well past the 20 mark).

The wine itself was very powerful and complex but also had quite an alcoholic burn - I think it would have benefitted from additional aging or at least a few hours decanting. All in all a less impressive experience that in ought to have been.

I am off the vino for the next six weeks due to some medical treatment during which alcohol is strongly contraindicated. Oh well, better to live to drink another day!
