Denner scores very very well in this month's WS, right up there with Saxum, which I know will displease Pio. They also really liked the Tensley Colson Canyon -- I ordered a couple of cases of that last year on a friend's say so and looks like I owe him. Need to dig one out.

Well, all in, I just dumped $1345 on three bottles of wine.

When we spent the afternoon at Denner what Andy was doing with Grenache was really interesting. For instance, he had two clay amphora, one uncoated and one coated with bee's wax. The taste between the two was distinctive with the uncoated more floral and delicate, the other more juicy and darker.

Have you tried their 100% Carignan, Sacred Burro? Now, talk about juicy. Speaking of fads it felt like that grape was the "It" grape. Used to have a really bad rep due to huge quantities of it grown for jug wine in the Central Coast region.

Was that the whole allocation offered?

Indeed. One three pack in Scarecrow wooden case. Will be at a dinner in April with the biggest fine wine distributor in the state and will talk to him about selling a bottle. Will update the thread.

This is from Ventoux, 80% grenache and 20% syrah. $40 at K&L, would say it drinks like at least twice that.

Very small producer. Around 2013 or 14 something happened in his wine making and suddenly everything was overly acidic and tart as hell. Not sure he's even still producing. This, however, was drinking incredibly.

Very nice!

This is 95% syrah and 5% viognier, from the Hudson Vineyard. Very "Northern Rhone", dark and intense but still fresh.
