Frog’s Leap holds a place in my wife’s and my heart. Whenever I want to surprise her I just snag a Sauvignon Blanc.

Was definitely the surprise of the tasting. Really liked it.

2017 Vine Cliff Los Carneros Chardonnay tonight. Not usually a Napa guy, but it had exceptional complexity for a $35 wine. I've had white Burgundy at 4x the price that couldn't hold a candle to this. Notes of jasmine, green apple and tart stone fruit.

Will likely buy more.

Tried Sojourn for the first time today. Really good pinots, and cab qpr was excellent (considering it’s Napa/Sonoma)

That place five minutes from the Piob Palace on the Top 100 list for resorts suffered greatly from the fallout of COVID. We've not been there since 3/14/20 and I understand all the experienced staff, staff we've known literally for years, are gone. Mrs. Piob's vaccine will be in full force as of 4/16 and we were thinking of celebrating by going to check things out. In prep I pulled the current wine list and someone has redone it. It made me cry. The cellar I used to know is all but gone and, as an example, there is now a section for "French Pinot Noir" that is nothing but Burgundy and a "French G/S/M blend" section that is nothing but southern Rhone.

A little unorthodox for our normal Easter dinner but had to try out the new Ooni pizza oven. The pizza and wine were both flowing.
