That’s an interesting looking cover bottle. Out of curiosity where do you saber your bottles? In your backyard? How much do you tend to lose in the process?

I need to check on the peaks for these.
Hitching Post is from "Sideways" fame.
I used to go up there all the time when my sister lived up there.
The Zin is from Carina Cellars, another old school Los Olivos winery.

I don’t drink a lot of Grenache, so I don’t know if it’s typical, but I find this to very floral, almost perfumey. Not sure that it’s my bag. Will report back

Grenache mixed with Cab is definitely not typical

I know that, I’m just assuming that particular note is from the Grenache. I recognize it from a WA GSM that I’ve had a few times.

This vintage Cava is recommended. Not easy to find great ones but at €29 it's a solid alternative to many €40 champers. Harder to sabrage Cava bottles though, Champagne bottles are thicker and almost every time a clean cut. I'm done saber Cava.

Yep, backyard is the place. Been doing it in the house once when having one of those hard evenings, but it turned out Mrs. Nicholas JE didn't approved.

In majority of the time non (from time to time) to very little is lost in the process when doing champagne. At least these days.
