Reliably excellent. Would say I'm not certain the Reserve is necessarily worth the premium over the regular bottling, which I'm happy to drink anytime.

Shameless plug for my favorite Boston wine shop (Urban Grape) -they're hosting a virtual tasting with Raj Parr on 6/11 looking at his Sandhi and Evening Land bottlings (details below). They got looted a couple nights ago but thankfully by no one smart enough to grab their good stuff.

Rajat Parr / Thursday, June 11, 6-7 PM
Please note the time change! Starting on the 11th, Clink moves to a 6 PM start time.
Raj Parr gets ready to dive DEEP into terroir and winemaking with us. Raj is a winemaking rockstar, revered the world over for his ability to tease the nuances out of wine that others cannot. He's always had a huge following at UG and is excited to spend the night with us. Get ready to get geeky!

2017 Sandhi Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County, California) *8W*
2016 Sandhi "Sta Rita Hills" Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills, California) *3R*
2017 Evening Land "Seven Springs" Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley, Oregon) *3R*

Got this bottle as a gift. Questioned not only it being a 2019 but also I am usually not a fan of Malbec. Maybe because I have bought on the cheaper end of wines. Would drink this again though.

Anybody here go in on Bordeaux futures? Seems like there could be some attractive prices coming for the ‘19 vintage. Still a bit hard to gauge though considering the tariff situation. I’m planning on seeing where some of my favorites land as the campaign roles out.

Seems like you'd need a really deep cellar to want to want to buy BDX futures. I don't drink much BDX, but it seems like the only reason to buy futures would be to secure hard to source wines, or wines that sell and above release price, which isn't most of us here. Probably mostly restaurants and retailers/wholesalers purchasing futures?

I usually get a few cases. Pricing is much better and most BDX drinks well early if you’re not dealing with first growth. For 2019 I’ve grabbed half a case of Pontet Canet at $78 plus whatever the tariffs are at time of delivery. Can’t imagine it will be less than $175 at retail when it hits the shelves.

Interesting project from a very marginal growing area (in climate terms) in South Africa. Blend of French and Portuguese varietals -- Syrah 47%, Touriga Nacional 19%, Trincadeira (Tinta Amarela) 19%, Mourvèdre 8% and Cabernet Sauvignon 7%.

Pronounced "seine".

Medium deep true red colour. Creamy red fruit nose with salty slate, licorice/fennel aspect that seems to be a signature Malgas character. Soft, juicy fruit palate envelops the substantial, concentrated structure. Drinking well now, but expect it to go on and on. Some nutty, spicy fruitcake on the mid-palate and a long, creamy finish. Best between 2017 and 2027.
