2017 Carlisle "Papa's Block" Russian River Valley Syrah
98 points Jeb Dunnuck
Another wine that blew me away in the lineup, the 2017 Syrah Papa's Block comes from the Russian River Valley and is 100% Syrah that saw 20% stems and 24% new French oak. Its deep purple color is followed by extraordinary notes of blue fruits, liquid violets, lavender, ground pepper, and some background meatiness. This quintessential California Syrah offers full-bodied richness, building sweet tannins, incredible purity of fruit, and a finish that won’t quit. It’s going to be up there with some of the finest wines from California in the vintage! Bravo.(6/2018)
I've had some decent PG stuff and I've had some stuff that was a little rough. How was that?
A very pleasant friend for two hours. Is this wine good? Ask me again when I've finished it in 30. View attachment 1397504
Love Morgon and Beaujolais is a cool go to region. Are you planning to expand and look in to other wines?i'm late to the wine game. i decided to buy a bottle of cru beaujolais after laughing at somm 2 in a wine bar last year. i've been hitting it hard since but that's still the only region i've tried. my favorite thing about quarantine has been the lack of existential crisis over whether i'm ******* up the "taste this tiny pour before i pour the rest of the bottle" etiquette, and i am sure that is the least relatable contribution i have made to any thread on this here website.
anyway, i enjoyed tonight's: View attachment 1397728
