Today's Full Pull can be found for the same price at KL Wines but it sure looks tasty.

I've never had a Brunello that has blown me away. At various price points too. Also I feel their is a lot of bottle variation for some reason.

So as I have drunk more Spanish wines I have noticed they all tend to have this character that I can only describe as "inky". Some Riojas have less, but in general they taste huge and concentrated. Why is this? Is it the grapes, or something to do with how they are made?

Never even heard of it, but I'll look out for one. I will say the best Riojas I have had taste like really great Bordeaux, but the worst taste like a pen exploded in my mouth.

In the 19th century, a Rioja producer I can’t remember at the moment, went to Bordeaux and learned their methods. They were eventually adopted across the region so that makes sense.

Too much new oak being used in combination with too much fruit extraction has been a trend among some of the less traditionally oriented producers in Spain in recent years. Try Lopez and Muga for a more "Bordeaux" like profile.

I prefer Barolo to Brunello, out here in Italy they consider Brunello the cheaper "little brother" version of a good Barolo

Hmm, interesting. Brunello I want to say is equally as expensive here. I love Barolo, but buying 10 year old bottles is pricey.

Well I do have the benefit of currently living in Naples, so prices are a lot better here, plus buying it at the source helps. I like browsing this thread and it amazes me the money you guys spend on bottles, the stores out here have like a under $5 section, $5-10, and then just other stuff if you feel crazy.
