Have a bottle of another Pinot in your fridge, half corked like a leftover. Get up and 'check on things' in the kitchen, taking your wine with you since why would you want to be without your wine glass? Fill glass from bottle in fridge. Be sad only that the wine is a little too cold. Repeat.

This would've worked except Thanksgiving was at a friend's house and I didn't have extensive cooking duties. I was far more brazen about it: my girlfriend and I brought some of our own wine as an extra contribution and then we mostly drank that while taking obligatory turns of the bad wine. Turned out okay because the friends who brought the Meiomi realized that it wasn't good (and said so, a claim that we all halfheartedly denied). That stuff was exactly as bad and in exactly the ways that I had imagined.

Meiomi by Belle Glos? I'm surprised you found it so horrible. It's never going to be considered a "great" wine but I've found it to be fairly drinkable.

I really, really dislike that style of California pinot--sweet & overextracted with lots of vanilla. To be fair, the friend who brought it had liked the 2012 a lot more and said the 2013 was markedly inferior.

My first ever bottle of it I had problems with as it was almost port like. I've had several other bottles and they were not like that. I wonder if there's some bottle variation issues?

Well, we had extra bottles and I ended up with one (seemed wrong to refuse it outright). I'll let you know if I actually drink it. I'm probably just going to make sangria with it, though.

I had a cheapo Napa Cellars Pinot Noir that I was pleasantly surprised by. I generally don't care for Cali Pinots.

Don't unnecessarily rule them out. There's a huge variety in styles.

Thoughts on Marimar Estate - La Masia 2009? Picked up a bottle that was relatively cheap (25 or 30 €) since I've practically never had wine from the US (aside from some 9 € Ste Michelle bottle). Maybe still a bit young, idk.

Hold or drink now would be my advice. We've visited the winery and it's a really a nice spot (minus the goofy dog statues on the entry driveway). Enjoyed the wines greatly and I think they make a Chard without over the top oak, fairly mineral, and not full of mallos. You'll probably like it.

Or is this one of their Pinots?

"price hike" is such a benign way to put it
