It was a great year. I am still waiting for my final one: the 2004 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto. If it is anywhere near the 2001 I will be very happy!!!

It is very close to 2001, if not better. Enjoy and report back. I drank some '08 out of the barrel and that is going to be stellar too.

2006 TreViti Syrah, Wolf Vineyards, Edna Valley. Not terribly complex, but quite enjoyable for the price.

Yeah- from the best wineries, the 01's and 04's are the best of the decade to date. I've had some disappointing 05's and just sample an 06 that sowed promise.

Pand- I love wine... but even I don't love it so much as to buy at Walgreens. [IMG]

Normally I wouldn't but I was stuck on the train for two hours last night and by the time I got off the train my local store was closed as was whole foods so, in my desperation to have some wine while we got snowed in, I swallowed my pride and went the Wallgreens. Luckily they had this one, which I've had before (bought at Wholefoods) and for the price was good enough for me [IMG]

Has anyone had a 'bad' '07 Rhone yet? I haven't.

From $15 Valerias to $80 Telegraphes, my most consistent varietal. Bloody amazing. And no matter what price, thay all seem to have that 'see through' fruit quality, so the fruit lingers without bombing you. I still get more excited by a top class Napa Cab and RRV Pinots, but the lower priced wines are so variable in quality and blend. When in doubt, I buy Rhone.

If you're looking for a nice Napa Cab in that $20(USD) sweet spot then try to track down "The Sum"

And according to the wine buyer at my local Beckstoffer bottles to order!
