Spainish Garnacha, Eye-tie Barollo, Oregon Pinot, a Martinelli Pinot, a Rhone, and more. There were seven of us and we killed 11 bottles.
that's a good ratio of people to bottles and a nice diverse mix of countries represented. Over the course of a night I find that one per just isn't always enough, unless dinner is oddly short. I'm sure you appreciated all of those big reds in the middle of summer, tell me somebody poured some white?
I think two of us did more drinking than the rest. Had a bit of a headache this morning
We need to think about an SF wine meet up, maybe in Vegas for the WS big tasting.
Manton strikes me as a Vegas guy. Go crazy.
I hate Vegas. But as I posted in another thread, I have not been since it became a great foodie destination.
Head up for the WS Grand Tasting event, dinner at Guy Savoy, breakfast at Bouchon's....
Just grabbed three 08 Scallop Shelves and three Cep Sauv. Blancs.
I have it on good authority that Kosta Browne just knocked out some terrific scores in the current WS. I hope my allocation is huge.
I had this a few days ago. I would have guessed a Cali pinot blind, but it was still quite nice and especially nice for under $20.
Tonight we're both tired so it's lounge time at home. Early dinner was Shake Shack burgers, late dinner was Italian cold cuts (and good ones, mind you). That terrible Julia Roberts movie was in between the two (not my choice).
The wine was excellent. I have some Rocche dei Manzoni Barolo in my cellar, but this was at my store for $30 so I figured I'd give it a shot. Excellent wine here, classic Italian floral notes with rust and a touch of stewed berries:

Tonight, 06 AP Vin Clos Pepe and 08 Loring RRV, both Pinots.
Drinking the 95 Montelena estate tonight with a giant rib steak cooked via the Ducasse method. Both are very tasty. The Montelena could use another 5-10 years, but it's close to making the turn into middle age and showing some secondary characteristics.
tonight was a German Riesling Kabinett with some sushi. Good stuff.
