We got some pretty good news yesterday so I thought this would be a good way to celebrate. The Graciano really augmented the florals and chocolate/mocha common with Grenache. It truly did not suck.

Got my reservations at Six Test.

For those keeping score we'll be at Somm's Kitchen, Six Test, Restaurant at Justin, and one of our favorites since 2011, Il Cortile.

Reminds me, where has @Omega Male been?
Sulking, mostly. Also dieting.

I did get to take @bourbonbasted and @edinatlanta out for a reassuringly expensive lunch this week involving quite a lot of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and whiskey. The former wisely left early, the latter passed out in the Uber on the way home and I may or may not have woken up in bed the next day with one shell cordovan Crockett & Jones apron fronted derby still on.

🤷‍♂️

@Omega Male, come to Paso in March. Join us at Six Test and Somm's.

You can buy!

Just dumped waaaaayyyy too much money. Villa Creek, Saxum, Linne, Kutch, and Epoch is coming up.

Then there's Wine Access...

I could crush two bottles of this in front of my American Fire Glass.

Bandol is a fan favorite here, particularly come summer. Kermit Lynch has a 50 year history with the family and who doesn't like a good Mourvèdre?
I agree, a nice Mourvèdre is always great! Lynch's book is where I got introduced to the producer but had a hard time finding it where I live. Thankfully, luck hit me and one of the wine shops nearby had the 2010 vintage in an excellent condition with storage history.

On a similar note, I was wondering whether anyone here can recommend a nice 2002 French red for a special occasion. Bordeaux is a preference, however, I heard that the year was not exactly favorable for the region. Talbot and Latour are the main choices for now.
Chateaux Margaux has a special place in my heart, however, I read conflicting opinions on the year.

This is way more low brow than the vast majority of wines posted here but the Trader Joe's Charles Shaw (aka 2 Buck Chuck) California Blend from 2022 is pretty damn good for the price.
