Don’t imagine I’ll come back to Belle Glos for quite some time, but this was much more enjoyable than the C&T, in my opinion.

This is my third wine from La Stoppa -- it was a wonderful experience of wine and a real joy. The fruit is bold black cherry, almost overripe, but fully present with the earthiness of the stone, with brett and some barnyard funk and the wonderful astringency you would expect from an orange wine. This would be the wine for any lovers of Flemish red ales. Their orange bottling, Ageno, is clearly from the same hands, with the cherry replaced by apricot, the funk so intense it is reminiscent of aged prosciutto.

What? I’m hard.

Ok, actually I’ll be on the lookout for some. I do love a good flemish red though. A category that hasn’t gone nuts yet.

They changed the label (mistake) so don't be on the lookout merely visually or you'll miss it. La Stoppa is pretty hard to find. They have a killer dessert wine as well. Incidentally, I really only enjoy two styles of beer consistently: English Bitters (e.g., Wells' Bombardier) and Flemish reds. My favorite Flemish by far is Ichtegem's Grand Cru if you can find it. More flavorful than Rodenbach, not nearly as sweet as Duchesse de Bourgogne, and not as bitingly acidic as Cuvee des Jacobins.

I've seen quite a bit of variety over the past pages and am curious where people stand:

Favorite region
Favorite wine
Most overrated region / wine
Most overrated "great" wine
Grail bottle
