I feel like the 05s have now calmed down a bit, which was needed. Still have some La Mordoree and Marcoux to try.

Had a bottle of that a few years ago. Shared it with an L.A. sommelier who's name I cannot mention. We both agreed it was OTT, but for OTT, well done.

I used to have this rule that I wouldn't consume Bandol unless it had at least 10 years of age on it. I have been breaking that rule recently and I am not mad about it.

Oddly on the other side of the taste spectrum really young Chinon is affordable and always a delight. Some people don't like the young vegetal nature of it, but I have been finding it a very nice change from my typical Bordeaux drinking. I think because recently the closest wine shop to me has had some truly awful Bordeaux offerings lately. Not so much that I didn't like them, but really bad bottles as if they were stored too long at room temperature or worse. I should really bring it up to the staff. I begrudgingly go to this particular spot too. I probably shared the story on here when it happened, but I hate the owner, but she's rarely there so it isn't a huge issue. A few years back I bought a few cases of this wine and asked if I could bring it home over the week on my walk home 6 bottles at a time or something. Yeah, no problem. Well at the end of the week I was like 3 bottles short of what I bought. The owner made a huge stink about it, more or less accused me of trying to rip them off. She called me and gave me a lecture about how much wine costs and she cant just let this go. First of all this is a $17 wine, second i literally spend thousands of dollars there every year. I really wanted to punch her in the nose.
