1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Dated 1958 triple patch pocket number, done in a nubby/fuzzy wool. Deep red with a sort of black windowpane.

Very cool. Wish the vest still had its slip.

All the leather stuff will need a big drink of Cadillac cream to start and then sit in some Pecards for a month to revivify.

My new favorite Polo shirt of all time. It clobbers Brioni, Loro Piana, and Zegna that I've come across. 100% Buttery Sea Island Cotton from the Golden Era of Brooks! Elegant saddle stitching and mother-of-pearl buttons make it even better. It's for sale this week... :inlove:

This jacket defines "What the hell happened to them?" 100% silk with a nubby hand, tons of wicked cool details throughout. Full canvas, made in the USA! 38 Regular

That size tag seriously confused me for a second when I read it as "small-medium-large."

Why do you think the tailcoat was made in the '30s? Do you see the date on the label? According to the Saks 5th Ave history, the company started out as Saks and Company at 34th and Broadway (just as the label says) but merged with Gimble in 1924 to become Saks 5th Ave. Do you know if the still used the Saks&Co label after 1924?

The NRA Blue Eagle tag was only used 1933-1935

As far as I know Saks & Co still operated on 34th for a while after Gimbels opened Saks Fifth uptown. I believe it operated there until 1967 when Korvette took over the space.

I could definitely be wrong on the Saks history, but the label is definitely 33-35

That suit from 1948 has transcended fashion; it still looks timeless!

It probably was hardly ever worn. Bond Clothes was a low-end retailer the equivalent of Mens Wearhouse decades ago. Either that, or overall quality was much better across the board.

Finally got around to taking decent photos of this Chalk Stripe wool suit, dated 1955. One of the highest quality things I've ever handled. So cool! Anyone know anything about this company? It's heading to the BAE, unfortunately, since I have no use for it.

Quite a find. Verner Franke one one of a very exclusive group of Swedish dandys at mid-century.
