Might as well add these to this thread. London Lounge cloths recently made up Edwin and Matthew DeBoise of Steed. Lovely stuff.

Can anyone recommend a place to buy replacement leather buttons?

Bump for this question.

Tender Buttons in New York City. They have many kinds. If you call them up they might be able to send you photos. Not sure though. Very good quality. I've used their buttons on numerous suits/sportcoats over the years.

You can also order from Britex: http://www.britexfabrics.com/buttons/leather.html
Why are old tweed jackets often stiff and "plasticky" feeling - is it dry-cleaning, poor quality fabric, or just the nature of the beast?

Stiff is the nature of the beast (well, for a traditional tweed- some are made to be softer), but I can't say I can recall a tweed jacket feeling plasticky.

Agreed. It doesn't exactly suit my complexion but if I could get the same set of patterns in greys and blues I'd just faint away from delight.

Thanks for the link, RC.
Truly LOVE this one (too bad it's out of stock):

These two are pretty sweet:

Interesting selection of ready made jackets for ~$300 USD.
Like this one in particular:

Harris Tweed and Knitwear
Sent them an email about sizes and availability of jackets in other fabrics. Will post response here.

Was there ever a follow up on this? Does anyone have any experience with Harris Tweed and Knitwear?

I have bought a tie just to try it out, and they were very friendly, and the tie is OK quality i guess, though I haven't got much experience with wollen ties.

Long time lurker, first time poster (in this thread).

Not a traditional (earthy) color, but it was my gateway drug into the world of Harris Tweed.
