I don't know the name of the specific fabric...I'm no tweed expert. But I bought this from SF Affiliate Epaulet, and the owner Mike is really good about responding to questions about his stuff so he could probably answer any specific questions you have - username Epaulet. And this was the Daltrey Olive Marl Harris Tweed jacket that they offer.

Is that a pretty good method with Bookster, to give existing jacket measurements, longer sleeve order notwithstanding? I have some nice fitting jackets so that would make ordering very straight forward :)

The alternative is to just order the suiting from Bookster and then have your regular tailor make the jacket. That way you get the cloth you want and no-fail fit.

Does tweed still stink of urine when you get caught in the rain?

Aha! I've located Butler's tweed. This is pattern MW02 from Horwood and Shaw.

Which is, by the way, really good to deal with in person, and will send out swatches/cut lengths.

What? You can order suiting direct from Lovat without going through anyone else? Now that is interesting news. (Immediately does Googlesearch for Lovat Mills website . . . )

Bookster now has spoo's/porters greenish tweed available, along with a lot of amazing stuff. The dusk harris and dark blue herringbone especially :inlove:

long shot request: Bookster has sold out of the Taransay tweed.... and as of a week ago, I had only ordered enough for a vest just to check on the quality of the material before placing the larger order for a jacket or suit length

now it's apparently Sold Out at the factory and they are not sure more will be made this year

if anyone has a jacket or suit length of the Taransay tweed from them, and is willing to sell it because you no longer need/want it (it is very rustic and hairy, so I could see why somebody would change their mind), please PM me

I would like to take it off your hands and I will try to make it worth your while

Oldsarge I would be very interested to know how you get on with ordering tweed direct from Lovat Mills and yes I confirm that tweed if from Lovats Kirkton range. If you are needing to identify a tweed anytime dont hesitate to send a picture as I would be happy to help.

So many tweeds, so little money! Having discovered that Lovat's has no website and must be contacted by phone, I suspect that a more reasonable route would be to request suitings from Horwood & Shaw be sent to my tailor here in the states. Alternately, I may just have Joe measure me for a jacket and pants to take me through the summer and then send the measurements to H&S in the fall. *makes note to self, adds new tweed jacket to wish list, makes serious attempt to cut spending in other areas!*
