I've seen both the Magnus and Taransay.

Taransay I really like, especially for someone with dark brown hair and a fairer complexion. It's a mix of black, light brown and gold with maybe some small almost unnoticeable unless close up flecks of blue. It looks like a very dark brown from most distances, but as you get closer to it the gold flecks become more visible.

Magnus isn't as dark, I would say a mid dark brown with a bit of green to it.

Magnus is definitely quite a bit lighter, Taransay is quite a heavy tweed.

I would order the samples though, honestly I ordered 7 samples from Bookster including those two and quite a few of them were very different than how they looked on my computer screen.

so is tweed-jacket.com good for MTM and a fair price, or do I just keep seeing links to it because its a convenient gallery of different brands' tweeds that are currently available?

They're very good people who make a very nice English style tweed coat. If that's what you're after, you can't really go wrong with them. Turnaround time could be better, but its worth the wait if you ask me.

IMO tweed jackets in brown can look just too rustic and fuddy duddy,if u know what i mean. Then again, IMO, tweed's are more versatile in solids i.e. -'s the overcheck. The Taransay, which I have seen ITF, is great, but is very hairy (it's a Harris thing) .

F*** me, that is outstanding. I think this may be my favourite suit that I have ever seen on this forum, bar none. Having said that, I am not quite sure that the particular bow-tie works perfectly with the suit - it's just a bit too close in tone, and I really don't like whatever that green plasticky thing is (excuse my ignorance) that you have in your lapel.

This, BTW, is pretty much what I am planning to get made with my Dashing Tweeds fabric (see above) - though not unfortuantely from such a prestigious tailor - I hope it turns out to be even half as spectacular as this.

    A) what's the green thing in your boutonniere?
    B) how much for the suit? I'll get a third job to buy that from you.

It looks gray from some of the shots, but up close it looks green to me (could be my monitor)

My new shooting jacket from WW Chan in Shanghai. Plain green twill from Harrisons, 3 roll 2 button, leather patches on the right shoulder and elbows. You can't see the yoke, half belt and inverted box pleat in the back. I had the pockets made with a flap and inverted box pleats to match the back.

The fabric is gorgeous - it's hard to see all the colors contained within the weave, I'll try to upload some close ups when I get home.

I am very pleased with it, it'll get me through these last few chilly weeks in Shanghai.

That is amazing. Which medal is it in your buttonhole, by the way?
