There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

This is a great thread--thanks, Spoo! I love Harris Tweed in all of its incarnations, but especially the more striking and rare designs, like the tweed of this canvassed 3/2 sack that's currently in my possession:

    [IMG] [IMG]

(and since this jacket is, er, available to leave my possession if anyone would like it, to make this post far less self-serving I'll be happy to give a very decent discount on it to anyone who comes to it from this thread!)

Not Harris, but a rather softer tweed suit from H. Freeman, that's just left my possession:

(The pictures don't show this, but the tweed is flecked very, very slightly with moss-green.)

And in case anyone's interested, here's a link to a short article I guest-wrote for the 'blog "After the Denim" on the 1950s/1960s dispute concerning what exactly Harris Tweed is:

Teaser of two of my RL coats. The one on the left is lambswool & has elbow patches and the one on the right has hacking pockets a ticket pocket and a throat latch. Both side vented.

I have no tweed, and I really need some. I've scoured eBay to try and find a cheap starter piece, but I've never found any SC that was side vented....all the vintage pieces are single vent. I don't really like the way single vents fit me, all of my SC's and suit jackets are side vents.

NORE - I'm interested to hear more about the 2 RL jackets you posted teasers of. And that goes for anyone else that has some nice side vented tweed pieces.

Here are some pictures for you. First a structured Bladen 3-piece tweed suit:

Then a classic hacking jacket, also from Bladen:

And now for something completely different. An unstructured wool/angora tweed jacket from Magee, cloth woven in Donegal, Ireland:

    Not too bad, I say...

This thread has put me over the edge, the next sports coat I buy will be a new tweed.

Bah, shame because I quite like it and I am in the market for a tweed jacket.

Almost all just great - just not sure about the cap and waistcoat in that fifth one. I'm already on record being effusive about that last fit. I'm not sure you ever gave us the details though... suit, tie - who, where?
