As I see, tweed is ideal to be worn as separates, it pairs excellently with corduroy, cavalry twill, whipcord.

Sometimes a tweed suit looks good as well, especially when it's rather solid and muted.

Can anyone recommend an online retailer that sells Harris Tweed in a 3/2 roll, or 2 button with a center vent? I love O’Connell’s but going to wait for a sale. I found an almost perfect match in this J Press but I don’t want patch pockets. I found a few possibilities online from supposedly Scotland but they only show side vents and the jackets are made short. Any help is appreciated. Looking for any shade of brown. I’m not really worried about price as long as its less than 1200 new. I prefer classic. Like I said above O’Connell’s will be fine but would like to compare similar options.

I just checked Campbell's of Beauly and Walker Slater and they are both side vents. I think most of the UK makers will be side vents.

Oconnells is less than your target now for more than 40 different Harris tweeds ($1000). Worth the wait only if you know the one you want will be on sale.

Brooks brothers has a Harris Tweed jacket on sale now for $450, sack suit, 3/2, center vent in a nice windowpane on a mix of blue and brown. And you can even try this on if you go to a retailer.

It's in Japanese, google translate works well enough. With the exchange rate shipping is nothing. They do a sort of MTM as well.

Andover Shop? Also, is Winston Tailors (ex-Chipp) still at it?

I wanted to buy a tweed jacket to wear to university. Will it be too hot for me indoors? If so, I should avoid wearing tweed because in winter it will be hidden under a winter parka and I will have to take it off indoors. Then there is no point in wearing it.
I have a Uniqlo jacket in a tweed blend. 70% wool and 30% polyester. It is so thin that the light shines through the back, but the texture is suitable for the winter season. I was thinking of ordering a thick MTM tweed, but I have heard people complaining that they cannot wear it indoors. Although I really like thick fabrics for the way they fit and hide figure flaws, there is a limit. Also, it may be difficult to wear thick tweed with a coat.

Russell check tweed - a handsome and showoff tweed in a traditional English 3 button cut.
Mix match fun with shetland, corduroy, oxford, and cotton twill.
Bonus last image with a trench coat in its proper true function of protection against rainy weather.

The Russell Check is one of my favourite tweed patterns.
tyvm!
It is one of my most favorites, too!
I have another vintage 22oz John G Hardy Russell check sportcoat length I haven't decided on the tailor yet.
I also have a 5m length 18oz joining my arsenal soon. It is probably same era as the other length.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
