I noticed we have don't have one yet. If I'm mistaken this can be taken down.

I figure this would be nice to have for all things tie related. I personally have started to really find them fascinating and have learned a lot about them in the last few months.

We can talk about designs and types, color combinations, materials, construction methods, brands. etc...

I'm thinking of grabbing these. Any opinions/thoughts on the color and design? and the versatility of them?

Construction and tie itself is superb.
High quality Wool Silk blend. 70/30. 100% Wool interlining.
Made in Italy. Handrolled edges. Fabric is compared to Drake's.

If the fabric is comparable to Drake’s then those would be very nice ties!

I think both are pretty versatile. Both are definitely seasonal given the fabric content and the first one great with a casual fall outfit. The second is a bit more formal and could be worn in winter as well.

Thanks for the input. Yes they are very nice ties from what I've researched and heard, and quite a great price in my opnion.

So I'm trying to compile a list of best value tie companies.
I've come across a few, most of which I don't see mentioned in this forum too much.
I noticed The Dark Knot/ Saville Row Co/The Knottery seem to be great quality for price.
Can anyone confirm? Does anyone have ties from them? Also, if you have any other suggestions let me know. Thanks~

Just a heads up for anyone interested, Granqvist has some nice deals on a good selection of their ties starting today. 3 ties for the price of 2.

A tie thread is a good idea.

How wide are those ties? I ask because I like traditional clothes, with tie widths about 3 inches. I am not into narrow or wide ties.

These ties are 8 cm or 3 1/8 inches. Which is the perfect width I think. Maybe a bit wider for taller/bigger individuals.

I always stick to within a hair’s breadth of 9cm. I’m sure 8 and even narrower are fine, but I favour a lapel on the wider side and need to keep everything in balance. My ties would, I’m sure, look far too wide if I ever wore, say, a J Crew Ludlow or something else with the sort of razor thin lapel I loathe.

Yeah it depends on lapel width as well. I think 9 cm which is 3.5 inches is completely fine as well. I personally wouldn't wear it because it would look too wide on me.

I think anything well below 3 inches looks too faddish and trendy (unless it's a knit tie), and only should be worn if you're anorexic. And anything getting close to 4 and wider looks ridiculous unless you're a sumo wrestler. 3.75 can be done by certain people.

An 8cm tie is perfect for me . I'm 165cm and I usually have some problems with ties' lenght,I prefer ties 146/148cm instead of 150cm.

I have just received 4 beautiful from Biagio Santo : 3 grenadine ties and a Maccafield silk tie.
I especially like the green one: rich fabric, perfect edge and original details.Definitely an excellent purchase (they sent me a linen pocket square as free gift).
Wich one do you prefer?

I think I’d get the most use out of the green one, but I think both of the blues are great looking ties.

Does anyone know if the Knottery is still in business? Their website is still up but they aren't responding to communications (for several weeks now).
