Hit up my local thrift store, here's what I found:

Some well-worn Florsheim Imperials. Pics show a before and after of a thorough cleaning and polishing. Bought for $1. Very well made shoes.

Yellow sports coat that fit me very well. Very surprising for my 6', 140 lb frame. Bought for $5.

Black well-made wool sports coat. Black base with a very interesting rough dispersion of yellow, red, and blue wool threads. I LOVE this jacket, and it fits me VERY well! It has back-side slits and flares a bit.....just a great shape. Bought for $5. Came with a nifty pocket square. I gotta try to get a better pic of the fabric, as the contrasting threads are more prominent in real life.

haha maybe we should rename this thread: "Yippee! Someone in my size died today. "

It's weird to find vintage stuff in my size (46L) so I can't help but think of the individual who used to own them. Poor sap.

You don't know how many times I've thought, "some poor bastard must have died", when I find some brand new item in a thrift store.

I'm much more of an optimist. I generally figure they just gained weight or their wife didn't like it. Of course, if it's a particularly older garment...

You can pay him when they go on eBay lol. Wife went to Good Will to donate some books and other stuff. Found new Bally shoes in her size, 5, which is hard enough to do and a vintage Gucci tote. $9 in damage. Good for her! [IMG]

Finally, something worthy of posting on this thread! I found a beautiful, relatively new (made in '00) blue pinstripe Oxxford suit for $7 at a local thrift store on Wednesday. I was getting tired of tonylumpkin getting all of the good finds in Pittsburgh! Pics to come...

Vintage Christian Dior trench coat in my size for $5.

This was either very well cared for or hardly worn. I don't know the quality of old Dior menswear (it's not Dior Monsieur at least) but the lining is nice. I need to dry clean the thrift store funk out of it and it's a keeper.
