1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

dahl5, I can only dream of finding a tithe of that in Louisville. So, over-thrifted and all, I'd say it could be worse.

Please help me out with a buy or pass on these blazers:

Burberry London for Nordstrom, made in USA.

Chiavari made in Italy, super 100's

Mani made in Italy, for Saks Fifth Ave.

Zanella made in Italy, 96% wool, stretch, besom pockets, no inside pockets, thin

    YSL made in France

I'm guessing Burberry is a buy, but what about the others?

^personal use? Price? If they are for you, and you like the styling and fit, then the right price is whatever you are willing to pay.

I would pass (and do so regularly) on all of these as flips.

I generally agree with this assessment. I first noticed it while I was getting me degree.

My first year and a half I dressed "comfortably," basketball shorts & tees in the summer, jeans and hoodies in the winter. Stuff didn't fit me. I had a 4.0GPA and was still just one in a crowd. I started working on a side project with some friends who dressed with a lot of style in fast fashion clothes (H&M, Zara, etc). Everywhere we went, people wanted to talk to them immediately and we had many opportunities come up that otherwise would never happen.

I took their principles and spun it a bit. I started thrifting for higher quality stuff but still dressing nice. Sport coats and dress shirts everywhere, nicer shoes, much better fits, etc. Suddenly in school I was every professor's favorite student, given multiple scholarships including the highest one the department has to offer, which they usually split between two students, being given solely to me. Instead of asking for internship opportunities, I was approached by employers with them through faculty. At my internships, I was treated by staff and clients as 'in charge' at events. Got multiple job offers in the music business (my area of study) right upon graduation. I didn't change my behavior inside our outside of class. What I was wearing was the only change.

As I've been moving into creating my own opportunities and meeting people, I've upped the game in quality but not necessarily formality, as the music industry in Nashville is notoriously lax. This is not NYC where people are in suits every day. It has been very beneficial for me.

I also agree that super rich people dress plainly for the most part. The most powerful people I've met in my industry are not very stylish and do not dress in flashy clothes. Even for Nashville, those running offices at majors tend to dress down from their underlings. Maybe it's a confidence thing, maybe it's just not caring.
