1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

^^ I'm voting no as well - I believe I read somewhere that Allen Edmonds has reused both model names and numbers over the years, and to me it looks like they recycled one that previously was designated for shell.

Edit: still a great pair of shoes though.

Thanks gents, I did not think so either, but that model number made me think twice.

On the topic of shoes, I'm curious, how many of you buy your shoes only from thrifts/used and how many only purchase them new?

I'm getting slightly fed up with the number of shoes that I've (e-)thrifted that I had to re-sell immediately or barely fit so I kept them around. I'm tempted to purge 90% of my shoes that quasi-fit, walk into the Brooks Brothers store and buy a pair of $375 shoes that fit well. Either that or find my exact size/width in AE 5th Avenue's, get them in 3 colors, keep one pair of loafers that fit, and call it a day. /rant off

Agreed. I'll buy suits, shirts, ties, jackets, pants used no problem. I prefer to buy shoes new. Shoes and raw selvedge.

However, if a rare makeup comes along on ebay for the right price or a $5 pair shows up at thrift stores, I'll go for that. Like the shell Lindrick boots I got for less than a pair of AE new.

Great stuff Hans! Wow. I was out to lunch today and stopped by a local coffee shop for some drinks..

Just happened to have a few resale shops within walking distance.

Found a Mont Banc pen but there was no price tag, so they wouldn't sell it :(
Left them my digits, so hopefully the manager or whoever will call back with a low price.

Other than that, found a T&A Blue Cotton shirt with white contrast sleeves and collar (was more than thrift prices, but figured it would help pay for the coffee!). Also, found a Sand Sportshirt and a 100% Bergdorf Goodman Black Cashmere full zip jacket (46R). It kills me that it had an embroidered logo on the front, but couldn't leave it for only $5.99.

Was limited on time since the gf doesn't really like thrifting, but she managed to find a skirt she liked so hopefully this means more impromptu thrift trips in the future!

It's so rare I find something that fits in the thrifts, I'd rather buy what I know fits new. I just end up selling the other stuff anyway.

Same. I've found and kept only 1 pair of shoes and they're just used as beaters. The e-thrifted Lindricks and Gaziano Decos are my only pre-owned pairs. The rest were bought new (but most still discounted!)

Definitely not shell. The original AAC author of the list made a few mistakes. I realized this particular MacNeil mistake about 2 years ago after an unfortunate ethrifted and uploaded an updated shell list to the thread. I don't have access to my updated list at the moment but I will upload it soon. I've added several, and removed a couple. There could still be errors.

Grabbed a pair of casual shoes today @ a local GW Thrift Store.
    J.M. Weston model 641
    [IMG][IMG]
Finally figured out how to upload my iphone pics using iCloud.
Here are 2 pics from Saturday AM @ the GW Thrift Store adjacent to the Main Store. Unsure if that thiftshop video was filmed here; if not, could've been. Bins of shoes are wheeled out w/ a security escort! Then all heck breaks out. Shoes, boots, sneakers and sandals are flying from bin to bin as buyers search. Most times it's darn near impossible to pair up an orphan. Today was a lucky day because the donor tied the laces together. All shoes are priced @ $3.25 / pair across the board.

Finally got through the last 10 pages or so, including Wes and the Hunds posts. All I have to say is fucking bravo. Amazing stuff.

I've had some meager finds lately, but I can't even post them in the wake of that stuff. Incredible.
