1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

They're pretty much standard issue for cycling. I wear PI gloves, and have jackets and bib shorts by them. They're aren't as good as Assos, but are generally well made.

My wife and I did the architectural kayak tour a few years ago, it was pretty awesome I must say.

+1 to what Fueco said. They're the basics. Did you find a technical jacket or something?

I did the same, except on a driven boat. I snuck a bottle of wine onto it and got a little sloppy. :slayer: I did the kayak thing but we started way up north and kayaked almost to the city but realized we had to kayak all the way back and iirc it was against the current. Still cool.

Just had the most epic bow tie haul ever. I had to go grab a cart. T&A, Carrot & Gibbs, Talbott, PRL, etc.

    Hope you enjoy Fueco!

It's killing me knowing that this is currently happening in MN somewhere while I'm cooped up in class. So I'm going to live through you. Can't wait to see this.

I'd say stay in town if you want to do anything in town.

I second the river tour - the one done by the Chicago Architecture Foundation. That was always something I took out-of-towners to when I lived in Chicago. That, and Blue Man Group at the Briar, but that was back during the first year or two and tickets topped out at around $45 each in the poncho section.

I've always liked The Drake hotel.
Art Institute (though I prefer the Museum of Contemporary Art, which is around the corner a bit from the Hancock and behind Water Tower Place shopping), Lincoln Park zoo (free), bum around on Michigan Ave / Magnificent Mile.
Not sure when opening day is for the Cubs - next week isn't it?
Probably gonna be too cold for North Ave Beach.
Bunch of new stuff has been built since I moved away - the bean / Millennium Park / etc.

When I was in high school I knew I wanted to move to Chicago, and I did eventually - great city, brutal winters. If I had the extra coin I'd buy a little place on LSD for a vacation home.

My wife interned at the Art Institute. Well worth a visit, as is the MCA. I was shocked to discover that the zoo was free, which was a big plus.
One visit we did a walking food tour which was fun too.

If that school is anything like the Art Institute I went to, I'm sorry.

A great choice, I thought about that after I posted.

Oh, and @SeaJen: Of what nationality are you? You mentioned imagining yourself in Chicago when you moved to the USA, so I was just curious.
