1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Robert Talbott from the 70s and 80s consistently produces some of the nicest ties that compete with Drakes/Marinella of today in terms of pattern and texture. Hands down. Shame they wound up in the tacky arena for modern pieces.

+1 Spoo. Nice that they're easily attainable too. I don't think I've seen any modern ties by them I'd wear, outside of a plain knit.

Finally got a decent haul for my First post on this thread (pants are mine, all else thrifted):

Blazer ($7) lining says "Custom Shop" so obviously custom (i assume), 100% silk, creme/taupe colored with gold buttons. Label says 39R but i am a 40R and fit me perfectly except short in sleeve and body- probably ideal for a 40S available for trade or purchase (pm if interested):

Shoes ($25) are Alan Edmond "Concord", 8.5D, and while i was able to squeeze into them, I'm a 9.5 and would love to trade for a similar pair in my size or even a 9, otherwise for sale (pm if interested). Overall in very good condition, a little scuffing on the toes which is easily remedied.

Shirt is BB non iron slim fit 15.5 34/35 ($10) and since it's pretty self explanatory and i'm keeping it, i won't post any more pictures of it.

Not Pictured up top, i picked up a sweet Armami Tux, (more specifically "Mani by Georgio Armani") does anyone have experience with that particular line or knows where it is in the Armani hierarchy? This fits me like it was tailored specifically to my body, so unless i'm overwhelmed by an offer, this one's a keeper.

and finally, the piece de resistance: i found a New with tags (albeit from 1999) Hickey Freeman Bestoke from Barneys Navy Blazer with lighter blue check pattern. This is literally the softest and nicest fabric i have ever felt, and new with tags, one of which has a price of $2695 on it. Two Button, fully canvassed with unfinished sleeves. Based on how it fits me, i'd say it's approximately a 42R, but i can provide measurements for anyone interested. Sleeves are short on me while the jacket overall is a little large, but as i said, sleeves unfinished and plenty of fabric to let the sleeves down when finishing. Like i said, first time posting here, so looking for some advice/tips on unloading this item. It's gorgeous and worst case i would be very happy tailoring and keeping it, but with an original price tag of $2,695 and tags still attached to this unfinished item, i assume i can get quite a bit for this beautiful piece. All thoughts/suggestion are welcome: (what's my best bet? ebay? sf's own classified section?) Am i crazy to think i may get $1,000 or more for this considering its new with tags?

Like i said, long time thrifter, first time poster, so please pardon my amateur photography and any unwritten protocol i may have unwittingly violated.

PRL made for PRL. Toward the end, before it went to Italy, quality trailed off. But the earlier stuff is good. Cut was a bit fashion forward at the very beginning, in the 70s, but the 80s and early 90s stuff is easily wearable.

There is a post, I think on Ask Andy, outlining the main Polo makers in the US since the late 60s. There were a couple...obscure (to me) names. I think Polo bought one of them out at one point.

You could also just do a completed listing search on ebay ;)

While it is a Sportcoat-able jacket (from what I've seen), I think it's an orphan, meaning you'll get even less. I think you'd be extremely lucky to get around $100.

+1 to that. I tried to get to him yesterday after posting that LP, in hopes of him going back for it. Would have loved to gaga over the craftsmanship and date the era of it.
