That trend isn't confined to ties...Found a great deal on a BBBF suit in my hard to find size but the tiny lapels were a deal breaker

Nicest pair of trousers I've handled. Tagged 50, Available

And these

Came with this in the pocket

...at a consignment store. N/A

Thom Browne at Black Fleece is all about tiny dimensions. Check out his mainline suits. Was the BBBF suit a "thrift store great deal" or "on sale great deal"? If it was thrift, you could have easily flipped it for a bunch.

Mad men and the recession which makes people reminisce about the good old days when everything was fair aka 50s aka skinny ties then fashion like always takes everything too far and now dudes that read gq look like they are in a Halloween costume wearing strings around their neck and their little brothers suits

Surprised the GW boutique had a NWT Zegna that cheap. I've stopped at that place once...never really bother with a place that marks a used Polo shirt almost to the price you can pick one up new on clearance at Macy's.

Given the quality of everything else there I was pleasantly surprised. I noticed when I got home that its marked as an XL so I measured it and its 62 inches. Oh well, it's a nice tie in my opinion and if I decide I don't want it or can't get it to tie to my satisfaction I'll probably try to sell it.

Thank you, thrift gods. Last week I left two pairs of vintage AE split toe bluchers at a Goodwill (the same one that yielded the $20 in a jacket pocket some time back) because they weren't my size and I just wasn't into tryin to flip them.

Went back today, and picked up a pair of AE Logan boots in my size.

+ infinity

As I resume thrifting, I look forward to repaying the debt I owe through random acts of kindness.

Humbly,
G

Friend, you have surplus, not debt.
