I've pared my thrifting (buying) routine to once a week, and then only really interesting pieces. The last straw was spending $40 to ship a $25 tweed sportcoat from Canada. Since money's not a concern right now, this can be a true hobby.

I've become a big fan of vintage, vintage shoes, only because I genuinely enjoy dreaming up leather-conditioning-and-polishing routines. These are 50+-year-old Hartts (a handmade Canadian shoe whose parent's gone the way of all handmade-Canadian-shoe companies).

Yeah Brioni says that - old as hell I imagine.

Figured scarf was fake but for $1 it was worth the gamble.

Merry thriftmas to all you awesome folk!

I have what is probably a silly question, but I'd appreciate your humoring me.

I found a PRL jacket and flannel pants, I think the PRL jacket is an orphan (and you guys confirmed that), but I just checked on a whim and the buttons on the flannel pants and the jacket are a match. Do you know if they sold wool jackets with the pants. Here are the buttons and the labels.

Buttons seem to match. The colors of the pant and jacket are really similar as well, except the pant is flannel and textured.

I'm guessing I'm wrong and it's possible that someone bought these to wear together even though they're not a set. The buttons just threw me off for a sec. I wasn't sure if suits/pairs were ever similar colors with a flannel bottom. I'm guessing the answer is no, but I figured I could learn something as one of the best ways to tell if something is an SC or a Suit Jacket is the fabric (stripes, etc) and the buttons.

    Thanks!

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday!

Thanks. It was just a bit strange for me to find something so close in color and probably from the same person in the same store. I guess that they were made around the same time so they just used the same buttons instead of using different ones for everything.

    But hey, now I know.

I hope everyone has been doing well. This place has been a great e-hangout. I've learned a TON over the last few months and looking forward to learn a TON more from you guys!

Best wishes to everyone during the holidays. For those that don't celebrate Christmas, I wish you and your family a nice couple of days off from work. This thread has always been leisure reading, but it's also full of information and insight.

    Wishing everyone the best!

Sadly no. I think it would be awesome to have both sides of the family here at once. None of them really like to fly and my wife's side of the family (Calif.) is pretty big, so that would be a lot of people flying in. We rotate every year. This Christmas we spend with my family up here. Next Christmas we will spend down there with her family.

Wishing everyone here the very best during this holiday season! Thank you to all of the gentleman here that constantly help each other out, whether it's help with a simple question about clothing or help with hospital bills. It's truly an incredible community we have here.
