Growing up in Princeton, I was clearly born too late for the good stores (1991). All I get to do is see my father and grandfathers great old stuff. My Grandfather often teases me with stories of when J. Press was just down to road... Now its just a J Crew and a RL, except for Landau which does't really count and Nick Hilton which isn't really always my cup of tea

Ha! I thrifted that exact same pair of Ferragamos a couple years ago. Studio line, right? I wear them every time it rains, and always get compliments on them.

I have a florsheim imperial that looks like the Ferragamo but with the vcleat sole. What you have is the ideal combination. I wonder if I can have my vcleat replaced with a commando sole like you have.

I love old AJ stuff. I was an undergrad when he was in his heyday and I remember wanting it but being unable to afford it. I still remember his patch pocket D/B suits Tim Robbins wore in "The Player". He was always a genius with color. Amazingly, even his recent licensed suits I saw at Steinmart still used fairly unique fabrics and cuts - too bad they were made in China and apparently fused using Crazy glue.

I've only seen one of his older pieces in a thrift store but it was way too small. Great find!

He's simply saying they cannot be EG's because the shoes say "made in italy".

made in italy = not edward green

Not so important, though. They will look very nice with a good polish.
